How fast does my internet connection need to be?
We recommend Broadband, however the service will function more than adequately with a dial-up connection. Larger documents will just take a little longer to display.
How many user ids can I have on a project ?
As many as you want. Each hosted project comes with administrative tools that enable you to set levels of authority and access - this includes creating user accounts and setting project access. You are only charged per project, and NOT per user - so you are free to create as many user ids as you wish without incurring additional cost.
Can you provide a copy of the data so I can access it offline?
Yes we can. We retain all documents and drawings uploaded into a project folder (even deleted ones). At project close-down we will provide you with a memory stick archive of all files relating to that project - including every revision.
Are there any restrictions on drawing revision numbering?
No. We do not impose any rules or restrictions on your project - we tailor the system to fit your needs. In addition to bespoking the system to your processes and standards, we can also cater for 'unique' projects within the portfolio that need to follow a different set of standards
Can I order printed copies from the system?
Yes you can. Advanced printing functionality is integrated into the system that will channel print instructions straight through to your prefered reprographic supplier. Whilst we can provide that reprographic service for you at very competitive rates, you are under no obligation to engage our printing services. You can specify all requirements such as paper size, number of copies, delivery address(es) all with a few clicks of the mouse.
Can I issue drawings electronically rather than printing them?
Yes you can. Our eTender component allows you to create tender sets and issue them to as many people as you wish. You can set an expiry time on the tender issue and the system will take care of the rest. A logon account is created for each recipient of the tender set that only gives access to the drawings in the tender set - when the exipiry time is reached the logon account is automatically removed. For each tender issue you can monitor logon dates and times of the recipients (and can also monitor who has not logged on).
How safe is my project data?
Very safe. All access runs under SSL encryption (the same level that is used by retail sites when processing credit card transactions). The main Dochosting servers are mirrored to two separate sets of servers in Canada and the USA. If there is loss of connectivity to our main live servers we can simply switch you over to one of our backup servers where you would continue to work with no loss of functionality.
Do I have to keep checking for new uploaded documents and drawings?
No. You control notification-lists for any file or project directory. Automated email notifications can be sent whenever a file has changed, or a new file has been uploaded into a project. Additionally, the Project In-Tray function allows reading-lists to be associated to uploaded files. Every user on the reading-list will receive an email informing them of the new file that requires their attention.
What happens if I delete a file by mistake?
No problem! Even though the file will disappear from your screen, it goes to a Recycle Bin where it is time-stamped with the date of deletion and then held until the project comes to an end. If you need any file to be recovered, just contact us.
